Welcome Winter!

Like many of you probably feel, that space between New Year’s and the First Day of Spring is just blah. It’s no longer Christmas and it’s not Spring-y either; so what’s a decorating gal to do??  The answer is, of course, use black and white buffalo check…everywhere!  I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a teensy bit obsessed with it.  It goes with everything!!  Add red, perfect for Christmas or Valentine’s.  When spring rolls around, it’ll pair perfectly with my green cabbages and bunny décor.  Summer?  The bright yellow I use in the dining room will be beautiful with the black and white.  And of course, the oranges of fall are just meant for some buffalo check.  Seriously.  If you’re not on board with buffalo check, hop on sis!

To transition from Christmas to Winter, I left a little greenery on the mantle, but removed all traces of red.  I found these cute little metal house lanterns at Dollar General after Christmas (80% off!) and bought all they had.  Not as fancy as Pier 1, but for $2 each, I ain’t mad at em.  😉  A few signs from Hobby Lobby (50% off) and mercury glass votives, throw in a couple of pinecones and you have a perfect winter themed mantle.

Here are a few pics of how I’ve incorporated the black and white theme in other areas of our house.

I chalk painted existing chargers and used greenery and plates I already had.  I found these 100% cotton napkins online at Steinmart.

I changed the bow on our existing eucalyptus wreath and added this cute rug I found online through Amazon.  I layered it over a jute rug I found at Goodwill for a steal!   I also got these awesome pillow covers from Amazon for a fraction of the cost of buying all new pillows.  Small changes make a big difference!
